Reflective cycle Essay

I will think about an episode that happened during my day of work to create uplifting mentality towards nursing informatics. In this reflection, I am going to utilize Gibbs (1988) Reflective cycle. This model is a perceived structure for my appearance. Gibbs (1988) comprise of six phases to finish one cycle which can improve my nursing informatics and gaining from the experience for better practice in future. The cycle begins with depiction of the circumstance, examination of the sentiments, assessment of experience, investigation to comprehend understanding, and finish of what else I could have done and furthermore activity intend to plan if the circumstance emerged once more. Be that as it may, Siviter (2004) clarifies that reflection is tied in with increasing fearlessness ,recognize when to improve, gaining from own errors and conduct, taking a gander at others points of view, acting naturally mindful and improving the future by gaining from an earlier time. In my setting with the patients, it is significant that the medical attendant joins nursing informatics to improve social insurance conveyance. Anyway Hebda and Czar (2009) characterizes nursing informatics as the utilization of data and PC innovation to help all parts of nursing work on, including direct conveyance of care ,organization, training and exploration. Nursing informatics includes the utilization of PC based data framework which as per Stair and Reynolds (2008,pg 4) is characterized as a lot of interrelated segments that gather ,control, store and disperse information and data and give an input instrument to meet a goal. Depiction I had recently detailed from the four months maternity leave and during the move changeover, I was educated by my associates of the new technique for mentioning for examinations on the web and that I was to see the group head to take me through the procedure. I heard my associates talk about a ton on how the new framework was expending their time and since it had been made a medical clinic strategy they had no way out than to cling to it. This didn't sound fascinating to me as I didn't have PC proficiency and asked why the establishment had changed the framework. I shied off from looking for help from my group head since I would not like to be humiliated for not being a PC educated. I concluded that I am going to utilize the old technique and when I am asked,I will safeguard myself and state that I didn't think about it. Tragically, the group chief didn't understand that I had recently detailed from long leave and required updates or perhaps she sat tight for me to show a drive to look for refreshes from her as it generally happens when one returns from long leave which didn't occur. During the doctor’s adjusts, one of my patients had some solicitation for examinations and in light of the fact that the phlebotomy adjusts had just occurred, one of the specialists acquired the blood from the patient and left for me to charge and send it to the lab. I chose to give the social insurance collaborator the example to take to the research facility trusting that the lab professionals would charge it as they had consistently done before the presentation of the new framework. During the exit round, the specialist asked on the report and when I called the lab they said that I should check from the PC. Since I didn't have any PC proficiency, I imagined that I was checking yet the specialist got anxious and chose to check without anyone else. On checking, the specialist found that the example was rarely charged thus couldn't get to the report. On calling the research facility expert, it was accounted for to the specialist that the example was disposed of in light of the fact that it was thought to be a reject since they had not discovered the subtleties on the web. The specialist got so annoyed with me and demanded that I ought to disclose to the patient what occurred so he could acquire more example. I got so befuddled on the grounds that I didn’t have the specific words to advise to the patient. I at that point assembled fearlessness and told the patient that the example got before was insufficient for the examinations mentioned and that we expected to get more specimen.at first, the patient couldn't see yet following a qualm, she gave the assent and the example was acquired. This time round the specialist lost trust in me and chose to charge without anyone else and gave a social insurance aide to take the example to the lab. Sentiments On impression of the episode, I felt so humiliated in light of the fact that such things shouldn't occur to a senior attendant who should be offering direction to the lesser medical attendants. I likewise felt untrustworthy for not looking for help from my colleques on charging the patient’s example and that I had not stepped up to the plate and see the group head to give me the updates that happened while I was away. I felt sympathetic for the patient and reprimanded myself for not making the best possible move. I additionally felt at my level I expected to have PC education since that is the thing that ruined me from looking for help. The American Nurses Association (2007) states that the accomplished medical attendant develops on the abilities required for professionals utilizing essential PC aptitudes to data in regards to the patient and must be capable in her/his territory of specialization. The specialists, and different medical attendants felt upset for my activity. Assessment Valid statements. After the occurrence, it made me consider how I would have taken care of the circumstance and how significant PC and data proficiency is to me and other medicinal services professionals. Selvasekaran (2008) characterizes PC proficient medicinal services supplier as that who has essential comprehension of the PC equipment, basic kinds of programming and various manners by which programming application can be utilized in persistent consideration condition. Relationship of school and exploration libraries (2002) characterizes data proficiency as the capacity to perceive when data is required just as the aptitudes to discover, assess and utilize required data successfully. Terrible focuses. It was a disgrace that my carelessness of looking for data prompted the misuse of patient’s example prompting exercise in futility in acquiring the outcomes. It additionally made more agony the patient since the patient should have been pricked again and this additional stressors to the patient who was at that point worried by her ailment. The other awful point is that the research center professional disposed of patient’s example as opposed to calling the ward for it to be charged. Examination I asked why the organization had transformed from the old arrangement of mentioning for examinations, I at that point recollected that previous I had perused from a book on the significance/advantages of nursing informatics in a human services arrangement which included: †¢Improved access to data. †¢Error decrease and improved correspondence. †¢Decreased repetition on information section. †¢Convenience. †¢Decreased time spent in prescription organization and documentation †¢Increased time for customer care †¢Facilitation of information assortment for research †¢Improved record security †¢Improved nature of care and patient fulfillment (Hebda and Czar 2009 pg 37). I at that point understood that the old technique didn't have the above characteristics thus the establishment picked the new framework. For this situation there was obliviousness of looking for data because of absence of PC and data education. Possibly I would have given the example to my partners who were very much educated to charge. I additionally could have called the research facility professional and educate that the example had not been charged. It is acceptable that I at long last gained from my mix-up and that the subsequent example drawn was charged and results obtained. Notwithstanding, having no PC proficiency and data education doesn't make my activity adequate. End. My impression of this occasion investigates how significant nursing informatics is in a human services set up and that all the social insurance suppliers ought to have information on nursing informatics. The entire issue was humiliating and I felt that rather than simply sending the example and accepting that the lab professionals will charge, I would have offered it to my partners to charge or advise the research facility expert that I couldn't charge the example and thus helping them to take a fitting choice as opposed to disposing of it. Likewise as opposed to shying off from looking for the data on the new framework from the group chief, I would have increased a little information from my partners on the best way to work the PC and afterward intensely continue to the group head for more data. This indicated I was not astute enough. As indicated by American Nurses Association (2007) intelligence happens when information is utilized suitably to oversee and take care of issues. Comes about because of comprehension and requires human exertion. Be that as it may, If I had benefited myself for the data, this chaos would not have occurred. Activity plan. So as to keep the occurrence from happening once more, it is significant that when I return from a long leave, I should step up and look for refreshes from my partners and furthermore the group head considering the delicate issues like this one.I ought to likewise look for help from my associates of things that am not sure of in order to keep undesirable rates from occurring. The move I made after the rate was to compose an episode structure so others could gain from my error. I likewise looked for the data on online examination demand from my associates and group pioneer and furthermore took a crack at PC classes with the goal that I could have enough information on PC education since the data I got from my partners and group pioneer was so specific and just concerned mentioning of examinations and acquiring reports.i additionally called research facility professionals and educated them to consistently call the ward before disposing of patients examples. I have discovered that there can be numerous positive taking in circumstances from the slip-ups we make. Reflection can in some cases show your inadequacies and this can be a reason not to refl

Bioautobiography

I am, Where I’m From: My Socioautobiography Cosme Ramos SOCS185 W5 Socioautobiography Abstract Who am I? Conceived in a little island, brought up in over populated city, presently living on the contrary corner of the country, voyaged everywhere throughout the world, seen societies and places most just dream off. How where my ethics, perspectives, and feelings molded by my environmental factors as kid, and how have they changed as I developed? What affected those changes? These are only a couple of inquiries I hope to investigate as I compose my Socioautobiography. I am, Where I’m From: My SocioautobiographyMy name is Cosme Ramos, Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on the 31st January 1976. Guardians are both Puerto Ricans (which as a general rule implies blended, Indian, Black African, and European). Not until third grade did we move to the United States, looking for circumstances and a progressively steady future. Being of a Hispanic conventional made family a significant job, in this way it was my essential gathering the main thing that was consistent all through or moves first from Puerto Rico to New York, and in the long run to New Jersey where my close family despite everything lives to this day.As a child the change was intense, life in Puerto Rico was a greater amount of the rustic sort, large yards, vegetation all over the place, grinning appearances and cordial individuals. In the states, things were somewhat extraordinary, presently we co-possessed with family we scarcely knew, in a little condominium like loft with no yard, and the main vegetation we would get the opportunity to see is that on the expressway mediums culture stun doesn't start clarify the confusion felt as a child under those conditions. Also the language obstruction that was by a long shot the greatest hurdle. If it wasn’t for the solid security and affectionate Hispanic people group the changes would have been multiple times harder. Inside months we were settled in Newar k, N. J. guardians had good karma secured stable positions tried out school now my greatest center was that of going from a straight â€Å"A’s† understudy, to not in any event, communicating in the language. I had a half year to learn and ace the English language to the level that toward the finish of the school year I would be capable enough to not be set back. With the guide of my third grade educator I was scored on the top 10% of the third graders in the locale and graduated third grade as though I was the same than any other person in my age gathering. These progressions and clashes that I needed to suffer were not as large of an effect on my more youthful sibling who was scarcely beginning preschool, and had the option to alter at an increasingly tolerant pace and to him English should be his first language and my sister the most youthful was conceived a very long time after in New Jersey. (TCO 4 and TCO 6).Let’s quick forward to end of center school, early secondary school years, being a youngster in the downtown of Newark N. J. (Block city as alluded to by many) everyday life was a battle against the disgrace that in the event that you were African American or Hispanic, from Newark, and lived in lower pay some portion of town, at that point you are, were or will be a crook. Recall Puerto Rico, we lived in a domain where one could go out and vehicle open, not stress over cheats, vandalism or anything of that sort. Now I couldn’t stroll to transport prevent from my home without being bothered by street pharmacists attempting to add you to their finance and have you work for them, or addicts attempting to check whether you were a seller, also evading taken vehicles being pursued by the cops, and the ever rarely shoot outs. It is presently evident to me that sex job and credited status was what drove the disgrace referenced previously. As the ladies or even the young ladies were not typically making the rounds around the area, the y were homebodies per say.Everyone simply expected it was what our identity, depended on where we lived, and a significant number of the individuals who lived there simply acknowledged such destiny and thought that it was simpler to adjust and satisfy their job in the general public they were required to. (TCO 5 and TCO 6). Presently in secondary school, a truly receptive immature, (recall this was before the PC age) the broad communications basically comprised of TV and motion pictures, neither of which at the time where endeavoring to lesser the negative perspectives on the general public I was attributed to.Soon I had a decision to make, do I also adjust to equivalent to my companions, or do I dare endeavor to make think outside the box as is commonly said by attempting to lead vertical portability in the definition framework that many felt ensnared inside. Being that I had gone through such a great amount, from seeing the condition of destitution that lead my folks to surrender it all in Puerto Rico and seek after a superior, un-ensured and un-certain future, or perhaps it the inclination that I could accomplish anything I set my attention to (demonstrated to me by my third grade educator as she suspected me the English language, yet did it by causing me to figure out how to think in English and ot Spanish) these components and perceiving how the affordable condition of the city I experienced childhood in was disintegrating I chose to be freak not acknowledge my place in a rotting society and that I would join the military. My choice was supported with the idea that, in the event that anything, I would at any rate do it for the school cash, and to investigate the huge world that charmed me to such an extent. (TCO 5 and TCO 6).September 6 1994, not 3 months subsequent to graduating secondary school, I was in transit to training camp, the Navy was the toxic substance of decision many idea, some including my folks never thought I’d go through with it, being a modest, tranquil, savvy, geeky type I was told sometime later that â€Å"they never thought I’d last†. Experiencing childhood in very multi-racial city condition, I grew up with I’d state about 90% African American children, perhaps 5% Hispanic and the rest white or other, racial separation to me was as remote and outsider as anything could be.Not long subsequent to being in training camp, did I happen to run into it however. Indeed, even took me some time to perceive what was happening around me. Racial disparity has since the time been something that has interested me, the way that a few people can be so oblivious as well as shut disapproved of that this age time despite everything feel are preferable or increasingly favored over others exclusively dependent on race. 18 ? a long time later, here I am, still in the Navy, to the stun of many.I saw the difficulties and biased based impediments forced on me by my companions, managers, collaborators and eve n sooner or later my folks, to fuel my inspiration. I see presently utilizing my sociological creative mind that they made a functionalist out of me. Right up 'til the present time, I manage segregation, not simply race, or sex related, I manage separation in numerous structures, and slandered in similarly the same number of likewise, from being a bicycle rider, to the rank I wear on my neckline or the present place of employment portrayal or being from the east coast to make reference to a few.But now I view such goes about as positive impacts that fuel me to accomplish what I’m told, or implied I can’t. (TCO 1 and TCO 5). Taking everything into account, I am, Where I’m From.. I’d like to think despite the fact that I am not, at this point the bashful, tentative, calm, in-experienced youngster that once battled in comprehension everyone around him, or that needed to go with his folks deciphering for them as they applied for auxiliary help . I do recall t he solid cohesiveness of my family, and the devotion to one another through occasions of struggle.Giving up was never something I witness my older folks doing, and it’s something I am not well at doing either. Life has, as a rule thought me exercises the most difficult way possible, yet some state those are the exercises you always remember. I have for the most part picked up venturing out from home at 17 years to travel abroad with the Navy, that even the individuals who think they have it awful here in the states, despite everything have it obviously superior to numerous in different nations. Regardless of whether you are held down, or even put somewhere near others, it is just ones’ self that can confine what we can achieve.Do others have it simpler than a few, truly, however such is reality and it’s up to the people to either make best or most noticeably terrible of the circumstance they are managed. As a grown-up I despite everything endeavor to be preferab le today over I was yesterday, and regardless of whether it’s a little moment contrast, it very well might be sufficient for some child to see, and think I also can become anything I need, I don’t need to live in a 20 mile span of where I was conceived, I don’t need to turn into a criminal in light of the fact that I’m thought of as one.If all I establish is a little connection in somebody to fuel their drive, at that point I’d like to think it was all justified, despite all the trouble. As my companions state, â€Å"from the old separated block city, the solid survive†. References Schaefer, R. T. (2011). Humanism: A Brief Introduction, ninth Edition. Productive, yes. Appropriately productive, no.

Productive, yes. Appropriately productive, no. My weekend Its been a somewhat busy two not-school days. Yesterday I sold several old textbooks back to the Coop, sold a few more on Amazon Marketplace, and got stopped next to the Stata Center to take a survey about perceptions of Goldman Sachs and Microsoft (they gave me $20! how exciting). Adam and I went out to dinner, shopped on Newbury Street (were going to the Bahamas this summer, and I needed a new bathing suit), ate dessert at Coldstone, and saw Over the Hedge. We also saw a bunch of people protesting The Da Vinci Code, which I thought was funny. I mean, staging a protest outside the movie theater seems like too little, too late, yeah? Today I have given a tour of MacGregor to Zi Wen (a member of the class of 2010), packed (with Adam) somewhere between 40 and 60 percent of our stuff (the move date is next Saturday!), and made arrangements to donate our unsellable textbooks to schoolchildren in Africa. (I have to admit that this makes me feel warm and fuzzy and at least sort of socially responsible.) Adam and I watched the latest epidode of Lost, ordered dinner, watched some episodes of Law and Order: SVU (yes, on a Saturday night. Shut up, were old and practically married and boring), and researched air conditioners for the new apartment. Now ask me how much Ive studied for my three finals next week, including two on Monday. Um, maybe tomorrow? A good website that I found today MIT-area shopping guide by Spouses and Partners @ MIT. Very helpful! A revision A few entries ago, I said For what its worth, I heartily recommend a debit card over a credit card. Many of my friends from home are graduating college with about a zillion dollars in credit card debt, because they were like Oh man, look how cool that new HDTV is! I may not have the money to buy it, but, hey, I do have this shiny credit card! Not good. Anthony commented, So heres my take on that :-) Having a credit history is a really important thing once you graduate and are living on your own. Banks, cell phone carriers, cable TV companies, utilities they want to make sure you are creditworthy and responsible, and having an established credit history goes a long way for that. I guess the trick is to not go nuts with a credit card if used wisely and as a financial tool, it can really help to have that 4-year-old account reporting in good standing come 2010. That said, MITFCU offers a Visa with a $500 limit to any 18+ MIT freshman who asks. BofA has a far better ATM network (I hate ATM fees!), but when nobody will give you a prime card with a reasonable rate as a brand-new adult, FCU is a good place to start. If nothing else, use it to buy a couple things each year, pay in full, and stick it in the junk drawer for next month/year. Removes the temptation and builds credit history all at the same time! :-) I totally agree with this, so I will revise my hearty recommendation as follows: Get a credit card, but treat it like a debit card never buy things for which you cant immediately pay (if you can help it, of course), and pay off the bills the second they come. My credit card is linked to my bank accounts, so as soon as a charge shows up, I transfer the payment to the credit card. And if you cant trust yourself to keep a handle on your spending, you should stick to a debit card until you can. Questions 1. Christina 10 asked Hmm, what do you have against test reviews? Well, like I said a few weeks ago, MIT biology tests are usually open-book/open-note and totally based on concepts and experimental techniques. As you can imagine, test reviews tend to be more focused on facts than on the larger questions. They might help some people, but I find it a lot more useful to go through old problem sets and tests and solve problems to study rather than formulating questions to ask the TAs. Test reviews are useful for some classes. I just dont find them useful for biology tests. 2. Anonymous asked, When we register for classes do we only have to talk to the advisor to confirm our choices and thats all? What happens if a certain subject doesnt have an expected number of students? Does that classroom closes? I ask you this because I have some friends who study in my countrys universities and it seems a common practice to close subject classes if there are not enough students, leaving them with the problem to look for free places in other classes and posibly rearrenging their class schedules. I just hope that MIT is serious in this issue and organized. It has happened before that a certain class wont have enough students registered and will be cancelled (particularly among advanced humanities classes), but its very rare. I mean, I was in a HASS last semester that only had seven students in it, and I was in a seminar the semester before that with only four students. Certainly freshman classes wont be cancelled for lack of enrollment, since most people select from a small subset of classes for freshman year. And if a class is cancelled, you will know about it long before you officially register for courses upperclassmen preregistration from the end of the previous term is used to estimate the number of students who will be in each class. Preregistration happens at the end of the previous term, but official registration doesnt happen until just before the start of term. If you go to a class for a week or two and decide its not the class for you, youre able to switch into another class pretty easily the last date to add a course to your registration is five weeks into the term. So really, no worries. :) Scheduling at MIT is pretty flexible, and Ive never had the types of problems that my friends at other schools have had. 3. Anonymous also asked, Does our advisor complete our registration by computer or do we have to go to different places to register for each subjects according to the department subjects? As a first-term freshman, youll go to your advisor, who will sign a paper which lists all your intended courses and will submit it for you. Second term freshman year and every term thereafter, youll go to your advisor, have him or her sign the paper, and you will take it to a designated spot on campus (usually Du Pont Gym or Johnson Athletic Center) and turn it in there. (Ive turned my registration forms in to Jessie who works the tables because of APO two terms in a row!) 4. Faye asked, Quick question is it better to have a laptop or a desktop? Any advantages/disadvantages to either, aside from the obvious mobility of the laptop? Well, generally speaking, desktops are more powerful than laptops. I have a desktop, and Adam has a laptop; I value the blazingly fast processor in the desktop, while Adam likes having the laptop so he can carry it to class and so he can do homework on the couch. Were both happy with our choices. :) For some advice from people who actually know stuff about computers, check out the buying advice from MIT IST.

Catholicism and Capital Punishment - 560 Words

Catholicism Capital Punishment Throughout time, punishment by death is a reoccurring instance in the United States and in other countries. There are wide ranging views on if this form of punishment is fair, cruel or against a particular religion. Avery Cardinal Dulles discusses death as a punishment in our society throughout the world’s existence and the catholic view on how it is a violation of the human rights. Dulles will put into perspective the views of capital punishment in the catholic religion. Throughout time the death penalty has been a common practice but that does not mean that it is thought to be a way to deal with a person’s wrong doings or mistakes. In the Old Testament it states that the Mosaic Law called for no less than thirty-six capital offenses for execution. â€Å"Stoning, burning, decapitation, and strangulation were ways of punishment for a multitude of offences including violation of the Sabbath, murder, adultery, blasphemy and incest to name a few(2).† It was seen fit because of God’s Covent with Noah and the principle, â€Å"Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image† (Genesis 9:6)(2) thus allowing people to think that punishment by death is what would be deserving by committing one of the thirty-six capital offences. As stated in the New Testament putting criminals to death was being taken for granted. Jesus refrained from violence and expressed his disapproval to his disciples for their actions.Show MoreRelatedSimilarities Between Catholicism And Secular Humanism1617 Words   |  7 PagesA similarity is that both Catholicism and Secular Humanism believe that there is a moral code which must be followed to live a peaceful life, however they differ as to the origin, with Catholicism being that God created the moral compass whereas Secular Humanists believe that human character and behaviour created moral beliefs. The problem and difficulties is that ethics of a business is a combination of individual sets of ethics. It is also very important that when you are going to work somewhere that you feel like you share the values of those you work with. Ethics is not just talking about the right thing in the company. It is doing what which is right in every decision in the organisation Examples of social responsible moral and value range from projects that raise money for research on diseases, raising money for the needy, requiring employees to volunteer within the a situation while the person who lost it could be potentially found. Powerful situational factors may cause people to compromise their values and resort to measures that they would not normally take. If someone is having financial problems, then they are more likely tobe steal. An individual get very angry with another person may have a hard time being objective and fair. There are innumerable ethical dilemmas that may arise in a business setting. Some of them are more obvious while some of them are more obscure. There is a simple basis that helps keep decisions in perspective. Businesses should operate in a manner that is legalethical, and within social norms. By being within social norms means that you need to use society to gauge if your decisions are appropriate. Some cultures would define what is ethical differently from other cultures. Due to the fact, all businesses need to be profitable, sometimes there is an over emphasis on making more money. Social norms should govern what is appropriate to c ompensate individuals as well as to charge customers. Profit expectations and goals should not require a business to cut corners in an unethical way or to misrepresent or twist facts. The biggest reason people are unethical is because they feel that they can gain from it, or that they need to hide something that can hurt them. There are many things that an organization can do to facilitate good ethical behaviors. One of the best things to do is to make sure that the underlying culture of an organization promotes strong values. People should not be punished for coming forward with problem. As fact, employees should be allowed to communicatethe problems. Some companies have a phone number to call or put problems in a suggestion box. Allow employees to share ethical concerns with the authority above them when there are ambiguities about the right thing to do. Ethical Leaders are obligated to set a moral example for companies members and to be determine those companies activities which may be detrimential to the values of society. Ethical leaders encompasses more than the fostering of ethical behaviors that exists. For example, ethical business leadership requires not onlyputting money in the small trees and experimental hybrids that wouldnt yield a thing that in this quarter or the next, but that also caring for the soil that allow the investor to produce such a harvest in the first place. Characteristics of Ethical Leaders In todays turbulent world, ethics and values are present at a number of levels for executives and managers-leaders who devote their time and energy to leading the process of value creation. This broader concept of ethical leadership empowers leaders to incorporate and be explicit about their own values and ethics. The following list provides a framework for developing ethical leadership. It is based on the observations of and conversations with a host of executives and students over the past 25 years, and on readings of both popular and scholarly business literature. Written from the perspective of the leader, these ten facets of ethical leaders offer a way to understand ethical leadership that is more complex and more useful than just a matter of good character and values. 1. Articulate and embody the purpose and values of the organization. It is important for leaders to tell a compell and morally rich story, but ethical leaders must also embodied and live the story. This is a difficult task in todays business environment where everyone lives in a fishbowl. So many political leaders fail to embody the high-minded stories that they tell at election time, and more recently, business leaders have become the focus of similar criticism through the revelations of numerous scandals and bad behaviors in ral environment. 2. Focus on organizational success rather than personal ego. Ethical leaders understand their place within the larger network of constituents and stakeholders. It is not about the leader as an individual, it is about something bigger-the goals and dreams of the organization. Ethical leaders also recognize that value is in the success of people in the organization. In the same way, the founders of aerocraft JetBlue began a process of matching, from their salaries, employee donations to a charity. Today, their entire salaries go to the JetBlue Crew member charity, to assist staff with crises not covered by insurance. The point of these examples is not that ethical leaders donate their salaries to charities, but rather that the ethical leaders identify and act on levers, such as employee loyalty, that drive success of the organisation. 3. Find the best people and develop them. These task is fairly standard in different models of leadership. Ethical leaders pay special attention to finding and developing the best people precisely because they see it as a moral imperative-helping them to lead better lives that create more value for themselves and for others. Finding the best people involves taking ethics and character into account in the selection process. Many CEOs have said to us that judging someones integrity is far more important than evaluating their experience and skills. Yet, in many organizations, employees are hired to fill a particular skill need with little regard to issues of integrity. 4. Create a living conversation about ethics, values and the creation of value for stakeholders. Too often business executives think that having a laminated values card in their wallet or having a purely compliance approach to ethics has solved the ethics problem. Suffice it to say that Enron and other troubled companies had these systems in place. What they didnt have was a conversation across all levels of the business where the basics of value creation, stakeholder principles and societal expectations were routinely discussed and debated. There is a fallacy that values and ethics are the soft, squishy part of management. Nothing could be further from the truth. 5. Frame actions in ethical terms. Ethical leaders see their leadership as a fully ethical task. This entails taking seriously the rights claims of others, considering the effects of ones actions on others, and understanding how acting or leading in a certain way will have effects on ones character and the character of others. There is nothing amoral about ethical leaders, and they recognize that their own values may sometimes turn out to be a poor guidepost. The ethical leader takes responsibility for using sound moral judgment. Ques-2 Within the business context, business are expected to have good ethical values and act socially responsible. The problem is that the ethics of a business is a mixture of individual sets of ethics. This is why it is important to have good individuals as employees. It is also equally important that when you go to work somewhere that you feel like you share the values of those you work with. Ethics is not just talking about the right thing. It is doing what is right in every decision that is made. Answer- The ethical behavior of leaders have received significant interest in recent years due to the plethora of ethical scandals in corporations. In this paper, we developed a theoretical framework that maintains that employees psychological empowerment mediates the relationship between leaders ethical behaviors and employees organizational commitment and trust in leaders We are living in modern era, which demand good ethical leadr who can bring their values and ethical impact on the life of the people. People want to give and take more and more responsibility fron the organization for which they work and relate whether as customer, supplies and employers to gain more profit and importance from them. People want to hear more from the influencing persons and want to be inspired by ethical leader. So,, the importance of ethical behavior in leader is necessary. Importance of ethical behavior are the following Importance of ethics in orgnaisation is that it establishes an entitity reliabilites and reputation with its clients and members. Ethics provide necessary boundaries which ensure opportunity s and fair practices for different organization in the business environment. Insurance businesses as an example in universal. This type of organization deals with a lot of difficulties and problems that the client of the organisation. The importance of ethics in business, the insurance business is the implementation of the standards by which insurance transactions are measured in the organization. Ethics is very important when it comes to dealing with clients and making relationships with them. Moral value and moral standards are very important in order for business and its outcomes to know where we can draw the line and know how to deal with the problems in the organisation that will come up more often than anybody. Various business decisions in the business are also based on ethical standards, which is why companies have their own handbook that details how every employee is expected to conduct themselves. Entrepreneur leader should be able to familiarise themselves on how ethics would affect their business particularly when it comes to profit generation in the organization. There are various ethical issues in businesses that are also under debate because of the difference in minds between different people in the organization. It is very important for an available avenue for people in the business area to be able to make changes and compromises when it comes to ethical problems and weakness that might proved be detrimental to various organization and companies in the open business environment. Becoming an ethical leader- We have been privileged to know many executives that we would classify as ethical leaders. What these executives have in common is a profound and deep sense of ethical principles, values, and character at the core of their leadership. They see their job as making others better, and enabling them to pursue their own hopes and dreams. They are able to get things done in complicated organizations and societies. But, it is their ethical core which pervades their relationships with followers, the skills and processes which they use in leading them, their analysis of the contexts, and their own sense of self. Becoming an ethical leader is relatively simple. It requires a commitment to examining your own behavior and values, and the willingness and strength to accept responsibility for the effects of your actions on others.. Ethical leaders must consider and take responsibility for the effects of their actions on customers, suppliers, employees, communities. Developing Ethical Leaders The best way for organizations to develop ethical leaders is to engage in some of these questions. Viewing business simultaneously in economic and ethical terms helps to send the message that ethics isnt just an important set of rules not to violate, but that it is an integral part of what it means to work at your organization. There are some concrete steps about how best to develop ethical leaders within the framework that most global businesses find themselves. The first step is to bring life to a conversation about how the organization benefits its stakeholders and about understanding the organizations values. Many companies have leadership development programs. These programs need to be strengthened by adding the idea of ethical leadership. It is not necessary to use the specific principles we have developed, but companies can make themselves better by engage participants in a conversation about what we see as ethical leadership. Executives can develop shared conversation s and conceptions of how ethical leadership can be implemented in their particular company. Steve Odland(ethical leader), view on encouraging culture within the organization- Steve odland speak to groups of employees about the importance of our company values, about how we want to treat each other, and about what we stand for as a company. The company culture cant just be mine, it has to be all of ours. Employees must be free to push back, to report ethical violations, and to suggest changes-all without fear of retribution. Every employees behavior is important to the companys success. We cant always look over their shoulders, so we need to depend on them to do what is right. And we need to put processes and mechanisms in place so that there are people they can turn to when they need support in discussing the difficult situations.

A Great Man Free Essays

January 4, 1643 is the time when our great mathematician and physicist, Isaac Newton, was born. His hometown was Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. His father was a noble farmer but unfortunately he died before Isaac Newton was born. We will write a custom essay sample on A Great Man or any similar topic only for you Order Now After his father’s death, his mother was married again, thus he was left with his grandparent’s custody. He went to Cambridge University to study in 1661. During that year, he became interested in various fields including mathematics. He was also become interested in optics, astronomy and physics but in 1665 a plague epidemic came in the University that forces Newton to go back to his hometown. During his two years in Cambridge, he already thought about gravity and in fact began to study optics and mathematics particularly calculus. After the plague, he returned to Cambridge. He became a second Lucasian Professor of Mathematics. In 1668, he made a reflecting telescope which attracts the attention of the scientific community and eventually he became a member of the famous Royal Society. His passion in optics and science was manifested by his series of experiments in the composition of light which resulted to the discovery of the various behavior of light. He published â€Å"The Opticks† which consists of concepts of light and color1704. Aside from â€Å"The Opticks†, he also published several paper works in history, theology and alchemy. One of his greatest works is the â€Å"Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica† (Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy). This works is all about how force and gravity were applied to all objects in the universe. In 1689, he was elected to become the MP for Cambridge University and in 1696; he became the warden of the Royal Mint in London. In 1703, he was elected as the President of the Royal Society. Before he died, he has contributed a lot of concepts, discoveries, theories and ideas on different field such as optics, physics, astronomy and mathematics. His interest in mathematics was first manifested during his undergraduate year in Cambridge University. During this time he became accustomed to various mathematical works of several mathematicians like Descartes and John Wallis. His works in mathematics include the proof and improvement of the so called â€Å"binomial theorem†. Newton was not first to discover the formula ((a + b) n) behind the binomial theorem. In fact an Islamic mathematician namely al-Karaji made a binomial coefficient table up to n=5. Also, another Muslim mathematician namely Omar Khayyam established a method of finding nth roots using the binomial expansion. Also in Europe, a century ago, Blaise Pascal has presented his concepts of how to generate binomial coefficients. Those discoveries by various mathematicians, including Pascal, were only applicable to positive values of n. Newton on the other hand, discovered the formula for (a+b)n that would work for any real. He arrived at this formula: (a+b)n = an + nan-1b + [n(n-1)an-2b2] / 2! + [n(n-1)(n-2)an-3b3] / 3! + . . . + bn His finding about the binomial expansion was; for values of n element of the interval (-1, 1), the formula (a+b)n generates an infinite, converging series. Newton’s discovery of binomial expansion/series was a great help in calculating pi ( ). As we all know, a binomial series recurs repeatedly which becomes a very useful instrument for mathematical analysis. The method of fluxions was Newton’s greatest discovery in calculus. In 1671, two years before Leibnitz established his own concepts about calculus, Newton started to study fluxions which is basically include concepts, notations and ideas on Calculus. His works on calculus was well established during 1665 in which he presented symbolisms for partial derivatives which is now an important method in calculus. The idea of binomial theorem and knowledge about infinite series gave Newton a solid idea on derivatives and integrals of functions. As a result of his studies, he showed that integral and derivatives can be expressed as a binomial expansion of infinite series particularly the power series. Newton discussed and solved problem using Method of fluxions. The problems include differentiation of algebraic function, integration of algebraic functions using inverse method, first-order differential equations, optimization problem which includes the locating the maxima and minima of a given function and lastly drawing tangent line of functions at any point. Moreover, with the aid of fluxion, Newton developed a geometric idea of â€Å"first and last† ratio of lines. In 1660, Newton became interested to study the nature of light and vision. In fact because of his fascination on light, he actually stared directly on the sun and poked the sides of his eyeballs by a small knife to observe activities and behavior of light and which risked blinding himself. These kinds of wild experiments and other sensible ones gave way to the formulation of theories about nature, behavior of the spectrum of light. Furthermore, Newton made its great leap in the scientific world when he published his â€Å"New Theory about Light and Colors† in the Royal Society’s journal. As a result of his various experiments, he forced to conclude that Light is a heterogeneous mixture of refrangible rays meaning light is not a homogenous entity. When he passed a white light on a glass prism, he observed that spectrum of colors were formed in opposite walls which explained the property of light known as refraction. In line with the study of optics, he constructed a reflecting telescope, the first, to overcome the distortions of chromatic dispersion. One of his greatest contributions in the field of physics was his Law of Universal Gravitation. Isaac Newton made a comparison of the moon acceleration to the object’s acceleration on Earth. He believed that gravitational forces were accountable for the acceleration of each other. He made a vital conclusion that gravity depends mainly on distance. From his comparison, he concluded that the gravitational force of attraction between the Earth and other objects is inversely proportional to distance between the center of the earth and the object. In other words, if the object is near the center of the earth, the gravitational force of attraction is high and vise versa. But there are other factors, aside from distance that affects the magnitude of the gravitational force. Newton knew that mass is the other factor that affects the gravity or acceleration of an object. Another important conclusion was drawn and that the gravitational force exerted by the earth on the object is directly proportional to the mass of the object. Newton’s law of universal gravitation was applied outside earth, hence gravity is really universal. With this finding, Newton was included in the gravity hall of fame. Also, with the aid of Law of Universal Gravitation, the three laws of motion were formulated. The formulation of these three laws, particularly the second law of motion allows numerical computations of how velocity changes when force acts on it. Newton left several manuscripts and paper works about alchemy and chemistry. Most of these were part of books, bibliographies, dictionaries and many other sources however; we could count in our fingers the original one from them. He began his experiments in 1669. He wanted to know the truth about alchemical obscurity and mysticism and the nature of and structure of all matter that he believed that God created all of these. Newton’s notable contribution on chemistry is his publication of an incomplete theory of chemical force. One of his written works is Opticks, which is first written in English. This was his most remarkable works on theories in light and color. In Opticks, he proved and explained through experiment and logical reasoning and which includes numerous axioms, theorems, propositional statements and lots of definitions. He integrated his mathematical reasoning in his works and eventually Opticks turned out to be the basis of all experimental physics. The Opticks contained findings that light like sound is composed of waves. He obtained several criticisms from other scientist like Robert Hooke and Christian Huygens. But Newton insisted that light was composed of discrete particles that move in straight lines. Furthermore, Newton combined the ideas that light is a particle and at the same time a wave. Again, from this result he received criticisms from Hooke and other scientists. Principia, his most remarkable, notable work and considered his masterpiece was divided in three books. The first book of the Principia contains eight definitions and three axioms. The three axioms were later known as the Three Laws of Motion. These laws were the main parts of Book I of Principia and in fact all discussions of Newton in his Book I were based on these. In the Book II of Principia, he tacked motion of fluids and other bodies. On this book, he questioned Descartes and Kepler ideas about the vortex theory. In his Book III which was subtitled the System of the World, he showed how he arrived on his famous Law of Universal Gravitation. The Principia was considered the most influential and greatest scientific piece during Newton’s era. His laws of motion and universal gravitation were his two most popular discoveries but Newton still believes that there is a supreme being that governs and makes these phenomena possible and that is God. Newton was a religious person. In fact he has written more on religion than in natural science. As a summary, Newton was a remarkable scientist in the history of the world making remarkable scientific advancements and discoveries in mathematics, physics, astronomy, optics, alchemy, chemistry and even in the religion. In mathematics, he contributed a lot of ideas on analytical geometry, algebra and calculus. His discovery of the binomial formula and method of fluxions were very significant in the advancement of various topics in mathematics. In physics, astronomy and optics, he made several findings and discoveries like the theories of light, Universal gravitation, laws of motion, ideas on fluid mechanics and invention of reflecting telescope. His book, â€Å"Opticks†, became the basis of many experiments in physics because of the employment of scientific method in his own experiments. Newton also has some contribution in alchemy and chemistry although some written works were in question. Newton was a great mathematician, a great physicist, a great astronomer and a great believer of God. Although all his works were scientific, he did deny the existence of a divine being. He was really a religious person and I think this was the reason why Sir Isaac Newton was successful in his career. We owed a lot to Newton so let us thanked him for his great contribution in humanity. Work Cited â€Å"Hatch, Robert A. † 1999. Six Sigma and Business Process Management †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Six Sigma and Business Process Management. Answer: Project management is the approach for achieving the specific goal of an organization by process of project conceptualization to planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure. It is not an ongoing process. It is a one-time project process which also involves resources management such as finance, technical, personnel, and logical belongings. (Kerzner, 2013). As per the given scenario of the Latino Engineering company after take over, facing multiple issues like defective engineering equipment, poor design, a time delay for problem resolution, wrong packaging, and customer dissatisfaction. The first observation shows that issues occur due to lack of project management process. As a project management consultant to resolve the issues multiple tools and technique will be applied which increase the company goodwill and customer satisfaction. For this purpose total quality management, Six Sigma-like effective tools will be used. To follow the project activities in specific manner c ritical path analysis and Gantt chart techniques will apply to the manager. This will help the project to meet the expectation of all the stakeholders and revive company reputation. (Rosemann and vom, 2015) According to given case study, The Latino Engineering Corporation founded by Dominic Latino has established the good market reputation along with satisfied customer support. After the company takes over, multiple issues generated like defecting engineering equipment, poor development and design of the product and non-responsiveness of the customers along with the ineffective packaging as well as delivery of the products and services, which affects the company growth. The issues were also generated in Dominic Latino management period but that time to resolve the issue, necessary action was taken and essential solution for business provided by the manager.(Eriksson and Eriksson,V2016)However, the current situation reflects that the root cause is related to management only because at the Dominic Latino time company was in well-performed condition and all the problems cured effectively in a scheduled manner. Therefore Total Quality Management (TQM) and Six Sigma techniques will be used f or identifying the root causes of the issues. (Latino and et al, 2016) Six Sigma analyses The six sigma method helps to identify consumer needs in a better way as well eliminates the defects and waste occur in a company. So it is a highly used strategy for the leading businesses. The major objectives of this technique are to improve the Latino Engineering Corporation's products, service, and procedure in various fields like production, finance, administration, and marketing. The six sigma techniques consists two methods DMADV and DMAIC which will help in resolving the issues related to the given scenario. The DMAIC method focuses on the current process of the company as well DMADV focus is a new product and process design to improve the performance. (Evans and Lindsay, 2014). According to the case study, issues are related to product quality and development process which leads customer dissatisfaction. By the Six Sigma DMADV method, the new product and services can be introduced which attracts the customer more and helps in building a new image of the company in the marke t. On the other side by the DMAIC method, company's ongoing process can be improved by applying different quality improvement strategy which is required for Latino Engineering Corporation. The above illustration shows that DMAIC method is more suitable for the current situation of the company (Anbari, 2017). The DMAIC methodology consists of five phases for improving the process as Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. Define: The first step of methodology defines the customer quality issues and core business values involved. According to that Latino Engineerings customers are facing defective product with poor customer support service with long time delay. It also defines that client of the company requires improvement in the quality of service, products, packaging, and delivery with quick response. In this context, the company ensures to meet the expectation of customer in scheduled time. (Conger, 2015) Measure: The second step measures the performance of core business process by collecting data from consumer and stakeholders of Latino Engineering. The collected data helps in determining the defect and metrics. For example, to determine the shortfall, multiple surveys will be conducted regarding service, product quality and etc. The comparison of collected data measures that the situation occurs due to the huge gap in actual performance to expect by the customer in terms of quality of engineering equipment, delivery and response. It helps in determining the appropriate solution for the business in long run. (Pyzdek and Keller,2014) Analyze: In this step by the collected data and process plan determines the root cause of a defect that is lack of motivation and communication in employees of Latino Engineering. If the employees are highly motivated they will provide good quality products and service, which doesn't meet the current scenario of the company. It also analyzes the opportunities required for the performance improvement which followed by the next of methodology. Improvement: The employee morale can be boosted up by creating an innovative solution like performance appraisal, provide incentive, monetary rewards, and recognition of achievements in the workplace. The evaluation of performance depends on the contribution of employees in increasing customer satisfaction and service provided by them. Control: This step includes keeping the process going in an improved manner by regularly monitoring the internal business situation. The development and implementation of ongoing monitoring plan follow by staffing, training, and incentives. (Prashar, 2014) Total Quality Management: Total Quality Management (TQM) is the customer based approach whose emphasis on the need of the customer and establish the continuous and dynamic process for improvement of a product. According to given scenario, in the decision-making process of the Latino Engineering, all the employees are equally participated by providing their incredible suggestion. On the other hand product, is manufactures as per the consumer requirement with the regular monitoring of packaging department as per set standard guidelines. By the staffing and training for solving the issues, continuous improvement program will process for the company. (Evans and Lindsay, 2014) To propose the improvement plan and reduce the root cause of defect needs complete assessment of Latino Engineering Corporations recent situation. By the above application of Total Quality management and six sigma techniques analysis results that root cause is lack of employee motivation, inefficiency in management of production department and packaging supervision. As the whole influence the product quality and service provided by the Latino Engineering which results in customer dissatisfaction. To eliminate the root cause of the defect related to the company performance needs a suitable plan of continuous improvement. The implementation of the improvement plan consists of multiple stages of training and development, monitoring, and control, resources retention etc. (Goetsch and Davis, 2014)To increase the quality of production and packaging department, an employee needs the training session with regular monitoring. As the below illustration estimated time for both the process is 10 days. The activities time spam is an end of November to starting a week of December 2017. The major goal of the plan is to enhancing the product packaging and service quality, raising the bar of customer satisfaction, zero-defect products and motivated team of employees. To achieving these objective, different strategy of training and workshops, communication, setting separate quality department within the organization to deal with client issues as well check on packaging and delivery of production. To raise the employee morale and loyalty towards the organization, multiple strategies like performance appraisal, monetary rewards, recognition and etc also part of the improvement plan. To process the monitoring of each stage of business in scheduled order requires proper communication between all the levels of departments. For instance, all the activities of every department will be reported to the head of the department and management. By the weekly meetings and workshops, a company can assess the performance of quality of work done in scheduled deadline. By the reporting of each activity helps in monitoring in allotted time spam and also overcome the obstacle appears in process activities. The regular customer requirements and feedback surveys will also play the major role in an improvement plan. The structured monitoring process will help the project manager to set the deadline for task and employees as per their efficiency. This will leads to identify and overcoming the barriers occurs at the monitoring process time. So the Latino Engineering will also follow the exact practice plan to ensure the lifetime sustainability of the business. This will enable zero defect manufacturers and improve employee work integrity by the customer satisfaction feedback. (Mitra, A, 2016) Resources requirements: Resources plays the most important role in improvement and success of the project. At the time of root cause analysis and improvement plan resources requirements will also assessed whereby corporation can effectively create its competitive edge in the marketplace through retention of personnel for longer time span. To process project effectively majorly required resources are financial, human and physical. To managing the training and development, monitoring process by surveys and other promotional activities requires for building up the market image of Latino Engineering will need the financial support by the resources like investors. To pursue all the activity in an effective manner needs the physical resources like equipment machinery, training and workshops halls, computers, laptop, office rooms and other regulatory resources will provide by the company. To accomplish the project in an effective manner human resources like project manager, executive teams, employees etc are essential. Therefore to process the business in the right manner for achieving the specific goals and meet up the project expectation, it is important to employ these resources efficiently. (Buckley and et al, 2017) As the above discussion and given details determines that Latino Engineering corporation also going through the development plan. To develop and implementation of the continuous improvement plan for the Latino Engineering requires 56 days as illustrated in an appendix by the activity table and Gantt chart. The project manager can easily schedule the task and resources in specific time spam by the help of Gantt chart. By the Gantt chart activity scheduling process defines that project improvement plan will initiate in October 2017 and ends in December 2017. The activity table scheduling provides structured information about assessment of business condition, issues generated and the proper cure-related issues. The initial three activities are done by the data collection process which defines the root cause of defects and provides the objectives of the project and solves the managerial issues. The standard objective of the organization is customer satisfaction with zero manufacturing de fects. (Pinder, 2014).To setting the goal of the project requires the 4 days with the optimum solution. Furthermore 25 days will consumed for design the project framework included application of suitable strategy and implementation of the strategy for optimum solution of issues. For instance various strategies like training, communication process were conducted in the production department of Latino Engineering. To completing the project, project manager faces multiple issues which is resolve by the implementation of different strategies. For example to motivate the employees, project manager remunerated them by performance appraisal with monetary and non monetary reward. This will helps the organization to facing all obstacles in positively and specific manner to resolve them. After the training the communication techniques take place which is considered as the most powerful and essential for project success. For this purpose, reporting, meeting on daily weekly and monthly basis co nducted to ensure the project performance and let all the stakeholders to know the potential issues. (Martinelli and Milosevic,2016) To reduce the time span and cost of the project the critical path analysis technique has been applied. The critical path analysis diagram shown in appendix define that essential activities required are 1+2+3+4+5+7+8+10+11+12+13+14+15= 46 days. This reflects that duration of the project reduced by 10 days. So the critical path analysis may requires the additional resources but it reducing time spam of the project process and helps in to finish the project before deadline. This will be very beneficiary for the Latino Engineering to create its competitive edge in the marketplace. (Larson, and Gray, 2013) Conclusion The report stated that after takeover, The Latino Engineering Corporation was facing the multiple issues related customer dissatisfaction from product and service response, manufacturing and packaging of products and time delay. To resolve them project improvement plan established which conquers the different strategy and techniques such as total quality management and six sigma tools. The tools provided the root cause of the defect as the lack of managerial skill and low employee morale. So it was essential for the Latino Engineering to conduct the audit skills of employees and assess the training need among employees. The continuous improvement plan formation Engineering generates the huge cost to supervise the every aspect of defect causing. For this purpose to reducing the time and cost of the project critical path analysis and Gantt chart technique applied. They both were the most suitable software to minimize the completion time spam of project. Along with it supports the manag ement in completing the business activities in the right manner and deliver good quality of services to client. (Burke, 2013) References Anbari, T.
